Wee Li Lin's Forever claims double premieres


Romantic comedy, Forever (我愛你愛你愛你, pictured) is set to be the first Singaporean film to receive a double world premiere when it has near simultaneous openings at the Jakarta International Film Festival and the Cairo International Film Festival tomorrow (1 Dec 2010).

The film is the second film by Wee Li Lin (黃理菱) and was produced by former journalist Silvia Wong. Shot in Mandarin it stars Taiwan's Morning Mo (莫子儀), Singapore theatre actress Joanna Dong (董姿彥) and newcomer Sarah Ng (黃麗雯). Wee and art director Charles Lim will attend the Jakarta event, Wong the opening in Cairo.

Cairo (30 Nov-9 Dec), a festival that counts among FIAPF's 'A-list' events, has a wide Asian lineup. Its competition section includes The Knot (結び目) by Japan's Onuma Yuichi (小沼雄一), An Unreturned Love by China's Zhang Siyang (張思陽), Sigwa by The Philippines Joel Lamangan, Rekruit by The Philippines Danilo Gomez, Mindfulness And Murder by Thailand's Tom Waller and Little Rock, a US-Japan co-venture by Mike Ott.

An out of competition section includes The Way Home by India's DR Biju and Poetry (시) by South Korea's Lee Chang-dong (이창동).

In addition to Forever, Cairo's festival of festivals selection includes: A Love Story by Anjan Das (India), Love Thieves by Abhishek Chaubey (India), Riwayat by Vijay Patkar (India), Will You Reach Across The Skies? by Gautham Vasudev Menon (India), A Little Pond (작은 연못) by Lee Sang-woo (이상우, South Korea) and Blades of Blood (구르믈 버서난 달처럼) by Lee Joon-ik (이준익, South Korea).

Forever's theatrical release in its native Singapore is scheduled for March 2011 through Golden Village Pictures.
