Believing he killed Wai in a furied brawl over Wynnie, Tak is lured into a gamble he cannot refuse: Winnie’s freedom in exchange for information known to a local policeman, Kin. To gain Kin’s trust, Tak befriends his sister Amanda and unexpectedly falls for her. Along the way, they are offered help by Abdul, a gravedigger, and Toatoa, a metal scavenger, who themselves are searching for answers to their own journeys. Their search eventually leads them to realise that this is a never-ending journey of dreams and disappointments.
